Guilty Crown Review

I often find it hard to discuss seasonal anime that are good because they leave me at that much of a loss for words... normally the show leaves me speechless and I move on to the next shows of the next season. However, Guilty Crown has changed this in a way. I've followed this show since it aired back in October... and honestly... I'm so glad that I picked it up right away. Production I.G. did an amazing job animating this show. From the fluidly animated battles to the greatly detailed characters and settings, the show never visually disappointed me and made me sit on the edge of my seat waiting for the next week's episode. Moving on to the music, I'll admit I've never praised a show for its musical score... never. I will admit though, that after hearing the opening and ending for Guilty Crown for the first time, listening to the music as the show continued, and even going as far to buy the OST... the musical score in this show expressed so much emotion and invoked so much of a reaction from me as a viewer. The show is great for its plot and characters, which honestly is one of the most charming aspects of this show. There is so much presence of character development and so many twists to the story that it sends you on this roller coaster of emotional ups and downs where you detest a character at one moment and feel empathetic towards them the next.

Bottom line:
Art: 9/10 Production I.G. did an amazing job animating this... its just gorgeous... x__x
Music: 9/10 The music, while not only invoking emotion in its audience and being fantastic, also is one of the best scores I've ever seen in my life. If you ever watch this show... I highly recommend buying the OST. Its a great a purchase.
Plot: 9/10 The plot was awesome... marvelous... epic. It emotionally brought me up... it emotionally brought me down... and not a lot of shows have done that... you know... besides Clannad... Angel Beats... wait... there are a lot that do that... but this show did it good too!

  3. Sounds like a good show. My favorite anime is Trigun. Are they comparable in any way?

    1. I wouldn't say so, lol. Trigun is more centered around its comedy and its post-apocalyptic setting, whereas Guilty Crown is more of a serious show set in a somewhat futuristic setting. I do still recommend it though, and Trigun is probably one of my favorite oldie animes. :)
